It's been a year and a half since I got married ... and I just changed my name on my driver's license today.  I never had anything against taking RRA's last name (well, except wanting to pronounce it more phonetically) - I just didn't really get a chance to until now.  Since I never had a middle name, preserving my maiden name by inserting it in there was both satisfying and handy.

I was wary because this errand would involve:
1. toting around a 6 week old infant (the logistics of it, not the infant herself)
2. snow and 4 degree weather and their effects on #1
3. downtown travel - i.e. too close (and outrageously expensive) to drive, too far to walk, unreliable public transportation in the face of #1 and #2
4. the frickin DMV
5. waking up my sleep-deprived arse to get to #4 early enough to avoid a long wait

Luckily, Cammie was a total angel.  She simply slept in the kangaroo carrier with only her coat hoodie "ears" poking out, nary a stir as the occasional snowflake dusted her forehead.  Parking was a "mere" $16, woo.  The DMV was quite pleasant, actually; there was no wait and service was straightforward.  After the photo guy told me to give a "married smile" and I picked up my baby, it occurred to me that he might've thought I had a shotgun wedding, lol.  Not true

Cammie's only 1+ month old and I'm already sad about how quickly time has passed!  She's sleeping in my arms as I write this - I could put her in her crib but I choose to hold her so I can look at her, feel her breathe, hear her little noises as much as I can ... even if it means one-handed typing and an aching back.  Stay young, Baby!

Coming off OB call (i.e. providing "anesthesia" for C-sections), I found this to be exceptionally hilarious and rather tasteful for this particular comic.

AnotherCSection

There have been babies younger than CER born -- eek!  Officially 4 weeks left but you never know ... :)
